Haryana Tourism department should plan for better functioning and improving its complexes instead leasing out them to private persons
Gustakhi Maaf Haryana – Pawan Kumar Bansal
Haryana Tourism resorts for sale. Is Haryana government incompetent to run these resorts? A high-level meeting has been called at Chandigarh on 10th March to finalise the plan. Once upon a time tourism resorts had high reputation. Brainchild of IAS officers S.K. Mishra and Ashok Pahwa under the dynamic leadership of then CM Bansi Lal, these resorts were named after birds. But mismanagement and the callous attitude of the government have deteriorated their quality. Moreover, some people enjoying political patronage are eyeing these resorts, particularly those situated in NCR. Director Tourism Parth Gupta had said that the government was planning to lease these tourist complexes. Where there are high sales, there is an acute shortage of staff, but where sales are low, there is surplus staff.
The management must fix a meeting for the betterment of tourist resorts instead of leasing out these prime properties.
Tailpiece: During the tenure of Manohar Lal as CM, there was a move to auction Mayna Tourist Complex, Rohtak, situated in a prime location, but due to opposition by employees it could not materialise. Shama Tourist Complex in Gurugram is in shambles and the Haryana government is not paying attention to its improvement. The tourism department’s prime property on the Delhi–Gurugram border is under illegal occupation. Instead of getting its prime land back, the department is busy selling the tourist complexes on flimsy grounds.
