By our enlightened reader RK Sharma retired IFS officer Haryana.The repeated grant of parole &special previleges to convicted religious leaders such as Asha Ram and Ramrahim,gravely undermines India,s justice delivery system.it is a sign of societal degradation.When punishment becomes elastic for the powerful and resourceful,the rule of law is reduced to a slogan.
Article 14 guarantees equalitybefore law and yet this promise collapses when ordinary prisoners struggle for bail,while influencial (religious)convicts walk free with 7 star govt previledges of air conditioned BMWs ? Religion should not be permitted to operate as a shield against criminal accountability.Such indulgence destroys deterrance and deepens the sufferings of the victims who are forced to suffer in silenc.’ Might is always right’
