Haryana CM Nayab Saini should direct the Commissioner of Police, Faridabad, to ask Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar and BJP legislators Mool Chand Sharma and Dhanesh Adlakha to provide evidence regarding the corruption allegedly prevailing in the Municipal Corporation Faridabad.
At a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), Gurjar, the MP from Faridabad, alleged large-scale irregularities in billing. He claimed that bills worth crores of rupees were being cleared in the name of plantation, despite there being no visible trees anywhere.
Expressing anger at the officials, Gurjar said the media was flooded with reports of corruption involving them. “You are looting public money and bringing a bad name to the government,” he remarked, warning the officers that he would have them handcuffed.
MLA Adlakha also levelled serious allegations against an officer, claiming that he was operating through touts.
These are extremely serious allegations made by public representatives. It therefore becomes their duty — indeed, they are legally bound — to inform the local police or the Anti-Corruption Bureau and submit whatever evidence they possess.
If they fail to do so, it would be presumed that they are less interested in eliminating corruption and more interested in bullying officers into obeying their illegal orders.
Tailpiece:
It is widely believed that the outburst is linked to the supremacy battle in Faridabad between two powerful BJP factions — one led by the Union Minister and the other by a Haryana minister.
