At Sainik School Kunjpura, there was once a main block associated with Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who had studied there. Over time, his stature grew significantly after he became Chief Minister.
Joshi writes:
“After Behan Mayawati, now Bhai Saheb, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, appears to believe in immortalizing himself at the cost of taxpayers’ money. This is Sainik School, Kunjpura, Karnal. Is this democracy, sycophancy, or something else?”
Tailpiece: Recently, when Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini was presented with a gold ring at a marriage ,he politely declined to accept it. It is a common practice to offer expensive gifts to VIPs.
Years ago, when Hooda was Chief Minister, he was presented with a silver replica of the Sugar Mills, Rohtak, by its employees as a gesture of goodwill after he accepted their long-pending genuine demands. As per norms, a Chief Minister is expected to deposit such gifts with the government. However, it is not publicly known whether Hooda deposited this particular gift or not.
