The “Haryana model” now appears to have been replicated in Madhya Pradesh — perhaps inspired by Haryana itself.
Around 50 IAS officers from MP (and some from other states) reportedly purchased land in a village near Bhopal on the same day last year.
Just 16 months later, a bypass road was sanctioned, the land use was changed from agricultural to residential, and property prices reportedly shot up by nearly eleven times.
Technically, there may be no direct corruption involved. However, it certainly raises questions about the use of insider official information for personal gain.
Now, coming to the “Haryana model.”
This model was allegedly perfected in Haryana during the tenure of Bhupinder Singh Hooda as Chief Minister, when the Master Plan of Gurugram (then Gurgaon) was revised multiple times. Information about these changes was allegedly leaked in advance to benefit builders and individuals close to those in power.
People with access to the corridors of power reportedly bought vast stretches of agricultural land, fully aware that the revised Master Plan would eventually convert those areas into residential zones, resulting in massive windfall gains.
