Former Speaker of the Haryana Legislative Assembly, Dr. Raghuvir Singh Kadian, raised serious allegations of large-scale corruption in the office of the Assistant Registrar (AR), Cooperative Societies, Gurugram. It was alleged that ₹25,000 was being demanded from each of 30 members of a cooperative group housing society for the transfer of their shares.
Responding to the matter, Minister Arvind Sharma stated that swift action had been taken and three inspectors were suspended. Speaker Harvinder Kalyan also appreciated the government’s prompt response.
However, our investigation revealed some shocking facts. Admittedly Within just half an hour of the news being broadcast—showing an inspector on camera allegedly demanding ₹7.5 lakh for transferring shares of 30 members—he was suspended. Subsequently, another sub-inspector was also suspended.
A case was registered with the Gurugram Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), video evidence was submitted, and voice samples were collected.
The most disturbing development came later. Despite the government’s stated “zero tolerance for corruption” policy, the accused officials were not only reinstated but also reposted to the same office.
Now, the complainant is allegedly being pressured to carry out actions for a non-society member, in violation of society rules, in an attempt to implicate him. New flat buyers are reportedly being misled with incorrect information about society regulations.
It is further alleged that the accused officials are receiving full protection from an MLA associated with the BJP, who is also posted in the AR Gurugram office.
So far, there has been no significant progress in the ACB investigation in Gurugram, raising serious questions about the handling of the case.
This reflects a system that disregards rules and openly defies the public.
