Congratulations TC Gupta on Successfully Completing term as Chief of the Right to Service Commission — CM Should Appoint His Successor on Priority to Keep the System Running Smoothly

Congratulations to T.C. Gupta, Chief Commissioner of the Right to Service Act Commission, on successfully completing his term. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini should appoint his successor on a top-priority basis so that the good work initiated by the Commission continues uninterrupted.

Credit goes to former Chief Minister Manohar Lal for appointing T.C. Gupta as Chief Commissioner despite Gupta being considered close to a former Chief Minister. Manohar Lal chose him purely on the basis of his competence and ability to deliver — and Gupta proved his worth.

On the eve of completing his tenure, Gupta proudly stated at a press conference: “We have sought explanations from 365 officers, including a large number of IAS and IPS officers, for negligence of duty.” He added that several states have followed Haryana’s model.

Gupta strongly advocates the chargesheeting of negligent officers irrespective of their rank. His final major initiative has been the recommendation to bring Haryana Cooperative Societies under the ambit of the Right to Service Act. Hopefully, the government will accept this recommendation.

Tailpiece:
Hectic lobbying is underway for the appointment of T.C. Gupta’s successor, and it is believed that an IAS officer nearing retirement is the frontrunner. The gentleman’s only qualification, according to critics, is his closeness to former Chief Minister Manohar Lal and his image of being pliable and acting as “his master’s voice.”

During his tenure in a top position in a department connected with builders, he allegedly failed to protect the interests and rights of his own department.
