Gustakhi Maaf Haryana-Pawan Kumar Bansal.
Why the Haryana Government should actively promote and strengthen its government hospitals and medical colleges. The contrast between Gurugram where I live and Rohtak clearly highlights the issue.
Gurugram boasts world-class, private, five-star healthcare facilities. In contrast, Rohtak’s Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences serves as a crucial government institution for the common people but with crumbling infrastructure.
For dental treatment, I often have to travel to Rohtak. While Gurugram has numerous private facilities, government healthcare there is negligible—almost like a drop in the ocean.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Nayab Saini ji, the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak is not just important for the city but is the only ray of hope for the surrounding population. It must be preserved and strengthened.
Unfortunately, under successive governments, this institution—once a proud medical college—has been exploited to some extent. However, since the BJP government came to power, no effort has been spared in weakening it further.
Postscript:
Several years ago, I underwent cataract surgery in both eyes. Recently, I consulted a well-known private hospital in Gurugram, where the doctor advised some surgery again for both eyes.
Since I could not afford the high fees—and the cashless health scheme announced by the Haryana government for journalists seven years ago is still not operational—I had no option but to go to Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak.
The doctors there examined me and said that my eyesight is perfectly fine and questioned who had recommended surgery in the first place.
