The issue of issuance of Backward Class-A certificates to BJP and Congress candidates for the post of Mayor of Gurugram Municipal Corporation, Rajrani Malhotra and Seema Pahuja, is getting complicated. This seat is reserved for a BC-A woman. Retired Captain Pawan Anchal, Yashpal and retired DSP Banwari Lal of Parjapat community have given a memorandum to the State Election Commissioner alleging that both the candidates are from the general caste and they have submitted bogus BC-A certificates, hence their nomination should be cancelled and action should be taken against them.
The Mahasabha alleges that during the Mayor elections, the candidates of the BJP and the Congress filed nomination and contested the elections by getting false caste certificates. This term the Gurgaon Mayor Seat is reserved for Backward Class-A (Women) by the Haryana Government. Being from the general caste, these candidates got issued false certificates and then contested the elections. On knowing these illegalities these people have demanded that legal action be taken against these candidates and the election process be cancelled. Not only this, these people have demanded that if the government and the officials do not take any strict action in this regard soon , then they will go to the High Court regarding this matter. The State President of the Mahasabha, Yashpal Prajapati said that Rajrani Malhotra and Seema Pahuja got issued their caste certificates for the Sunar/Goldsmith caste, whereas these people are not Sunar/Goldsmiths by caste, some of their family members are doing only business of jewellery.
After the elections, a written complaint has been given to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard. On the complaint, Deputy Commissioner has assured them that the documents of the candidates will be checked. The Backward Class-A and Maharaja Daksh Prajapati Mahasabha have demanded that if these people have submitted false caste certificates, then legal action should be taken against them. The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram is repeatedly extending the time in this regard and the inquiry has not been completed yet.
They alleged that if Rajrani Malhotra has given the Backward Class-A to the Election Commission, but no certificate of her children or husband has been issued before this. In this case, the scope of doubt increases further because the husband and wife have got issued the Backward Class-A certificate issued just one day before the last date of fling nomination.
She is basically Punjabi Jat
Rajrani Malhotra who is of high caste of Punjabi Jats of old Punjab. People of this caste are still present in Punjab and Pakistan. They were mainly landowners, agriculturalist and and they are also in jobs along with cloth business and other goods businesses. According to historians, people of this caste were the first disciples of Guru Nanak Ji. According to a family member of Mrs. Rajrani, her father Mr. Vishan Das and his ancestors came from Multan area of present Dera Ghazi district of Pakistan at the time of partition of the country.
Some members of Rajrani Malhotra’s ancestral family and her in-laws do business of jewelry and gems, on the basis of which they cheated and got issued certificate of Backward Class-A by connivance by showing of Sunar/goldsmith caste of Haryana. Her husband Tilak Raj Malhotra, who belongs to the upper caste of Khatri Punjabi is also falsely claiming himself to be of Sunar caste and showing himself belonging to backward class. Seema Pahuja, who is Pawan Pahuja’s wife and has been a councillor of the Municipal Corporation in two tenures, has also got a certificate of Backward Class-A of Haryana by declaring her father Mr. Mohanmurari Kapoor of Sunar caste. He said that these people have presented wrong facts to the BJP and government and due to this the government is being defamed. The government should pay attention to this and take strict action against these people as soon as possible. We hope that the Haryana government and the Deputy Commissioner will do justice and if this does not happen, then they will soon file a petition in the High Court.
