Haryana govt should introduce incentive for hybrid and electric vehicles in view of pollution in NCR
Gustakhi Maaf Haryana – Pawan Kumar Bansal
There is currently no incentive scheme in Haryana for hybrid vehicles. Neighboring regions such as Delhi and Uttar Pradesh have introduced policies to promote such vehicles, but Haryana has yet to implement any similar initiative.
Most vehicles on the road are powered by petrol or diesel, while only a limited number of manufacturers offer hybrid cars—vehicles that combine petrol and electric power, thereby reducing pollution levels. Recognizing this, the Delhi government introduced a scheme to encourage the adoption of hybrid vehicles priced below ₹30 lakh by offering a 50% rebate on registration charges. Similar schemes have also been implemented in Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh.
Unfortunately, the current Haryana government has done little or nothing in this regard. Pollution levels in Gurgaon are already extremely high, and introducing incentive schemes for hybrid and electric vehicles could significantly help in reducing pollution.
