IG Manmohan Singh used to encourage professional police officers.
Manmohan Singh himself was a highly professional and honest officer. He consistently supported and motivated officers who upheld integrity and professionalism.
This incident dates back about twenty-five years. Retired ADGP Subhash Yadav was then serving as DSP in Narwana (Jind). One day, while he was sitting in his office, a tall, well-built man came to meet him.
Introducing himself, the visitor said, “I am retired IG Manmohan Singh.”
Manmohan Singh had retired before Subhash Yadav joined service, but Yadav had heard a great deal about him. Greeting him respectfully, Subhash Yadav said, “Sir, how may I be of service?”
Manmohan Singh’s reply surprised him. As Subhash Yadav later shared with “Gustakhi Maaf Haryana”, Singh said, “I have no work. I just came to meet you.”
According to Yadav, Manmohan Singh explained that he had come to Narwana to visit a relative. The relative spoke so highly of Subhash Yadav that Singh felt compelled to meet him in person.
