Hooda Faces Heat Over Plot Allotments, Bhajan Lal Escapes Scrutiny.
The ghost of the controversial allotment of 14 industrial plots in Panchkula nearly 12 years ago continues to haunt former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
While former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal allegedly allotted thousands of residential plots under his discretionary quota without facing legal consequences, Hooda now finds himself in serious trouble over industrial plot allotments made during his tenure.
The Haryana government has granted sanction to prosecute Hooda and several officials, including IAS officer Nagal, in connection with the case. The allotments are alleged to have been made in violation of prescribed norms and were reportedly granted to individuals considered close to Hooda.
Investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) indicate that the allotment process deviated from established procedures. Hooda is accused of misusing his official position by altering the criteria after the deadline for inviting applications had already passed.
In contrast, Bhajan Lal is said to have avoided legal complications by ensuring that all procedural formalities were completed, despite the large-scale allotment of plots under his discretionary powers.
Tailpiece: Supporters argue that Hooda did not derive any personal financial benefit from the allotments and merely extended favours to associates. Similarly, Bhajan Lal is believed to have allotted plots to IAS and IPS officers, journalists, and members of the judiciary, without any direct financial gain to himself.
