Like Krishna saving Draupadi in the Mahabharata, Justice Surya Kant steps in to protect the Aravalli Range from alleged exploitation by Haryana politicians

Gustakhi Maaf Haryana – Pawan Kumar Bansal

During the Mahabharata, Lord Krishna came to the rescue of Draupadi when she was being disrobed of her sari. In Kalyug, Justice Surya Kant has come to the rescue of the Aravalli Range when it was being “raped” by Haryana politicians to help the builder mafia. Justice Kant said that the Aravalli is a composite range. It neither starts nor ends in Haryana, adding that there is no scope for permitting the project unless there is a clear definition of Aravalli.

The Supreme Court of India has put on hold the Haryana government’s Aravalli Zoo Safari project in Gurugram. Our enlightened reader R. K. Sharma, retired IFS Haryana and petitioner in the Supreme Court against the judgment of the National Green Tribunal (dismissing the case against Ambeience Infrastructure Gurugram for encouraging activity on protected forest land), had rightly predicted that this project would not stand legal scrutiny of the Supreme Court and would fail. We had carried the story.

The Supreme Court has put a slap on the face of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who during his tenure as Chief Minister had planned this Zoo Safari project. Again, a big slap on the face of Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Haryana Environment Minister Rao Narbir Singh, who had been pleading for the project. Recall that Rao Narbir had got CLU for a resort in Gairatpur village, in an area which comes under the proposed Zoo Safari project.
