Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi attended a lunch hosted by the former Chief Minister of Haryana and the current Leader of the Opposition at the Delhi residence of MP Deepender Hooda. It was a positive and gracious gesture.

Now, it is Bhupinder Hooda’s turn to reciprocate by playing the role of an effective and proactive Leader of the Opposition. With thirty-seven MLAs and five Members of Parliament, the Congress has the strength to put the Saini government under serious pressure.

The Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) is already under a cloud, and Bhupinder Hooda holds the key to bringing accountability. It may be recalled that during the tenure of former Chief Minister Manohar Lal, the State Vigilance Bureau arrested the HPSC Deputy Secretary from his office with a large amount of cash. At that time, a mobile phone was also recovered, which reportedly contained conversations between two persons close to the government discussing who was to be selected.

However, the Vigilance Bureau buried the issue related to the phone for reasons best known to itself. Bhupinder Singh Hooda is said to have heard that chat as well. This is the right time for him to hand over the recording to the Haryana Police and demand the reopening and proper follow-up of the case, which could potentially expose the high and mighty.
