New Delhi:The National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (COSAMB), in collaboration with GIZ, CoFTI, WHH and the India Food Banking Network, organized a National Dialogue on “Unlocking the Potential of Fresh Produce Recovery” on December 22, 2025, at the APMC Azadpur Auditorium.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Raj Bhatia, MLA, Adarsh Nagar, Government of Delhi. The dialogue witnessed the participation of around 60 attendees, including senior officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and representatives from Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs) across several Indian states such as Karnataka, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab and others.
The national dialogue focused on addressing challenges related to fresh produce loss and explored sustainable solutions to strengthen recovery mechanisms, improve supply chain efficiency, and reduce food wastage. Speakers emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, policy support, and innovative practices to enhance food security while ensuring better returns for farmers.
Participants shared best practices and experiences from different states and underlined the need for coordinated efforts among government bodies, market boards, development agencies and food banking networks to unlock the full potential of fresh produce recovery across the country.
