AAP Demands High-Level Probe into Kaithal Land Scam, Questions Role of IAS Officers
The issue of the cancellation of the land allocation to DC Kaithal House Building Society, specifically regarding the lease of a prime six-acre semi-finished building at Golf Course Road, Gurugram, has emerged as the second major scam under the current government. The land, leased for a country club after a fifteen-year arrangement, was reportedly dealt with in a hush-hush manner. This has raised significant concerns, as it highlights potential corruption and malpractices.
Call for High-Level Probe and AAP’s Involvement
Given the serious allegations, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for a high-level, time-bound probe into the matter. AAP leader Jagmag Mator, President of Kaithal District, has demanded that the probe team also include a leader from the AAP and a member of the above-mentioned society to ensure that the investigation is not a mere eyewash.
Concerns Over IAS Officers’ Role
The role of two IAS officers who are currently holding key positions has come under scrutiny. While the government has cancelled the auction, this decision came only after the issue was brought to the public’s attention by AAP. Critics argue that the cancellation was not voluntary but a response to public pressure, suggesting that the government might be shielding the IAS officers involved, whose roles in the episode are under suspicion.
Questions Over Auction Discrepancies
The public and political leaders alike are questioning why no action has been taken against those responsible for any discrepancies in the auction process. If the auction was conducted properly, as claimed by Rajiv Ratan, Commissioner of Karnal Division and head of the auction committee, then why was it cancelled? This contradiction has fueled further demands for a thorough and independent investigation into the entire episode, with calls for a CBI probe gaining momentum.
