When then Sirsa SP V.B. Singh refused to join a private dinner organised by the son-in-law of the then Home Minister, Lachhman Dass Arora, in Sirsa.

Kuldeep Jain, retired Sessions Judge, recalls:

“I had seen the working of Mr. V.B. Singh, IPS, in Haryana. He was a very daring and honest police officer. What to talk of an MLA, he did not oblige Mr. Rahul Setia, son-in-law of Mr. Lachhman Dass Arora, the then Home Minister of Haryana, in and around 1985, when he was SP Sirsa.

At a get-together of officers of the District Administration and local Judges, held by Mr. Arora at the business premises of his son-in-law, Mr. Setia, he did not enter the premises despite the invitation, but simply said that he had come there to perform his official duties, while remaining outside the premises.”
