Good gesture by Haryana Human Rights Commission- Visited Saurabh memorial who sacrificed his life saving eleven persons from fire caused by cylinder blast.

Great gesture by Haryana Human Rights Commission, comprising Chairperson Justice Lalit Batra and Members, Mr. Kuldip Jain and Mr. Deep Bhatia visited memorial of Saurabh Garg, who sacrificed his life while saving lives of eleven persons from fire, caused by a gas cylinder blast at Pillukhera in Jind. The Commission is said to be making appropriate legal efforts to get the due honour awarded for life sacrifice of 19 years old brave young boy, Saurabh Garg, said Kuldip Jain, Member (Judicial) of the Commission.

It may be recalled that due to red tapisam, Saurabh’s case for award by the Central Government could not be cleared. Although Haryana Govt made a memorial and his sacrifice was honoured with observance of silence for few moments during Haryana Assembly Session. Saurabh’s father complained to the Human Rights Commission and the Commission reached the Martyr Saurabh Garg Memorial in Pillukheda, Jind.

The Commission team on arrival at the site of the memorial of martyr Saurabh Garg in Pillukheda, offered floral tributes and paid homage to him. On this occasion, Commission’s Chairperson, Justice Lalit Batra said that since a long, the family members of Saurabh Garg have been demanding due recognition at National level of befitting bravely Award/Hnour for life sacrifice of Saurabh Garg posthumously for which the Commission has taken cognizance and started taking requisite steps in the matter. He told that the case was prepared and sent to Chandigarh by the then Deputy Commissioner, Jind. This case onward was to be forwarded to the Central Government as per the prescribed procedure. In getting permission from the Centre, there was some delay at the administrative level, regarding which Saurabh Garg’s father Chaner Bhan Garg had complained to the Human Rights Commission.

It is noteworthy that on 8 December, 2012 Saurabh Garg showed unparallel courage in sacrificing his life while saving lives of 11 people.The family has persistently pursued the matter to secure the due State honour and recognition befitting his supreme sacrifice. The Chairman informed that the application for conferment of posthumous honour is presently under consideration.The Commission is diligently pursuing the matter to ensure that appropriate and final recognition of the exemplary courage and supreme sacrifice of Martyr Saurabh Garg is accorded at the earliest.He was nineteen years old at that time.
