IAS Officer Prashar: “Prayed at Salasar Temple for Operationalisation of Hansi–Butana Link Canal”dream project of Bhupinder Singh Hooda“
Gustakhi Maaf Haryana — Pawan Kumar Bansal
“Sir, I have offered prasad worth ₹1,100 at the Salasar Balaji Temple, praying that the Hansi–Butana Link Canal becomes operational.”
Hearing these words from the then Irrigation Department Secretary, Parashar Sahib, the then Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was overjoyed. The canal was considered Hooda Sahib’s dream project, while INLD was opposing it.
At a time when sycophantic officers and engineers were congratulating Hooda Sahib for the project, several IAS officers and engineers were busy showering him with praise. The department’s Chief Engineer, R.K. Garg, had even officially noted on file that the canal was technically not feasible. Yet, flattering engineers and IAS officers continued to elevate Hooda Sahib to the skies.
Seventeen years have passed, and crores of rupees along with 1,400 acres of land have gone to waste. It seems the offering at Salasar Balaji Temple did not have the desired effect.
A police outpost was set up at the site where canal excavation had begun, supposedly for security purposes, and it still exists today. Recently, when I visited the spot and started taking photographs, a policeman from the outpost stopped me. I told him, “I am not a militant.”
DGP Ajay Singal should examine whether there is still any need for that police outpost.
Postscript:
Sycophantic officers are liked by every Chief Minister. These same officers also keep flattering our Manohar Lal Sahib, saying things like: “Sir, you have brought a digital revolution to the state. Your name will be written in golden letters.”
