Respect the parents.By our enlightened reader Ramesh Gupta (Narwana)People often say that when parents leave this world, life loses its colour. The house becomes a hollow space, the laughter vanishes and walls echo with silence. But,in truth, our parents don’t truly die. They don’t simply disappear. They live on- in us,around us,through us.The sad reality is that it is not death that separates us from them. It’s forgetfulness. It’s our neglect. It’s when we stop remembering, when we stop cherishing ,when we stop seeing them with the people they have left behind. A brother may carry the calm and determined gaze of his father. A sister might shine with the same graceful beauty and warmth as her mother. One sibling may smile just like Dad used to- full of quiet strength.Another may cook with the same tenderness and love as Mom filling the house with familiar flavors and forgotten memories.
No,parents don’t die. They never truly leave us. They remain in our gestures ,in our habits,on our voices. They live in our stories we tell, lessons we pass down, the traditions we hold.We are their legacy. We are their living reflection.
And when you miss them, when your heart aches for their presence, when the world feels empty without their embrace- just look around-Gather your siblings. Listen.Observe.You will find your mother’s soothing smile in your sister’s eyes. You will hear your father’s voice in your brother’s words. They are right there- with you.Around you.Within you.
But sometimes, we forget. We let selfishness, greed resentment and pride creep in.We quarrel. We hurt each other. We tear apart the very garden they built with so much love and hope. And in doing so,we don’t just drift away from each other- we let our parents die a second death, the one caused by indifference. So,love your parents-whether they are with you physically or in spirit.Love your siblings- they are living pieces of your parent’s hearts.Keep nurturing the garden, they created with kindness, unity and grace.Let the garden bloom endlessly-with compassion, respect, forgiveness and love. And in doing so,you will create a paradise on earth- a home where the essence of your parents will live forever. A heaven not made of gold or clouds ,but of hearts that never stop loving. And in that love, they will never die Because they are you.
