When firebrand Meneka Gandhi ordered DC Faridabad to stop a goods train amidst reports that it did not have sufficient fodder and water for cows

In 2001, an incident occurred at Faridabad Railway Station when a train loaded with cows was passing through the station. Upon the matter being brought to her notice, Smt. Menaka Gandhi intervened and got the train stopped at Faridabad Railway Station.

She directed the then Deputy Commissioner of Faridabad, Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, to make proper arrangements for water and fodder for the animals and warned him in strict terms against any lapse in this regard. At that time, Smt. Menaka Gandhi was a Minister in the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Following her directions, the district administration strictly adhered to the guidelines laid down by Smt. Menaka Gandhi. In this manner, Smt. Menaka Gandhi was in a position to directly contact the Deputy Commissioner and instruct him to take cognizance of the situation and ensure proper care and feeding of the animals.

Shri Anand Mohan Sharan, who was the Deputy Commissioner of Faridabad at that time, has confirmed this incident.
