Gustakhi Maaf Haryana – Pawan Kumar Bansal
The Congress party’s decision to grant a Rajya Sabha ticket to Bodh from Haryana has sparked political debate, with some observers claiming that the move could indirectly benefit the BJP by weakening Congress’ traditional support base.
According to the analysis, the Congress leadership has missed an important opportunity to strengthen its vote bank in Haryana. Critics argue that Rahul Gandhi could have used the Rajya Sabha nomination to accommodate a stronger representative from socially and politically significant communities. Instead, the ticket was given to Bodh, who, according to the critics, is neither considered a prominent intellectual nor a widely recognized leader of the concerned community.
Political analysts point out that Haryana already has two Congress Members of Parliament belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. In such a situation, the party could have considered giving the Rajya Sabha seat to a leader from the BC-1 (Backward Class) or DSC community. By not doing so, it is argued that Congress risks alienating a significant segment of its support base, which could benefit the BJP in future elections.
Tailpiece:
Some political observers believe that senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has tactically managed the situation by ensuring that the Rajya Sabha ticket did not go to a leader from the Kumari Selja camp or to any other strong contender. According to this view, the move may help keep the political field within the party favorable for his son, Deepender Singh Hooda, in the future.
