CM Nayab Saini’s Gurugram event sparks political tussle in Haryana: “What are you doing in my backyard?” (मेरे आंगन में तुम्हारा क्या काम है?)

Haryana’s political landscape once again appears to be witnessing internal friction, this time over a state-level function in Gurugram to be presided over by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

According to newspaper advertisements issued by the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, the event being held under the banner of “Antyodaya ka Sankalp” is being organized to distribute housing flat keys to economically weaker sections. The CM is listed as the Chief Guest, while Industry Minister Rao Narbir Singh is prominently featured as the Guest of Honour.

However, what raised eyebrows is the absence of Gurugram MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh from the official invitations and advertisements.

Reacting to the development, Rao Inderjit Singh said that he had not received any invitation for the function, making his attendance unlikely. He nevertheless extended his congratulations to the beneficiaries.

The episode has triggered widespread debate in political circles. The exclusion of a sitting senior MP and Union Minister from a state-level event in his own constituency has led to speculation and questions over protocol and intent. The situation gains further significance given the well-known political differences between Rao Narbir Singh and Rao Inderjit Singh—often described as deeply strained.

The controversy has now fueled a broader debate: is this merely an administrative oversight, or does it point to continuing factionalism within the Haryana BJP?
