Am pious as “Ganga jal -My opponents had planted money at my residence “- Delhi High Court ex Judge Verma from whose official residence huge cash was recovered is craming like parrot.
Former Delhi High Court judge Yashwant Verma has come under the spotlight after reports surfaced alleging that bundles of cash were recovered from his residence. Responding to the controversy, Verma strongly denied the allegations, describing himself as “pure like Ganga water” and claiming that his rivals had conspired to plant the cash at his home.
Amid the growing controversy, Verma offered to resign from his position, calling it a decision taken on “moral grounds.” Following this development, there is speculation that his resignation would allow him to avoid constitutional proceedings such as impeachment.
Sources indicate that if his resignation is accepted, Verma may remain eligible for pension and other post-retirement benefits. Additionally, he could be permitted to resume legal practice in the future.
The situation took another turn when an appeal was made to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her not to accept his resignation in order to ensure a fair and comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The incident has once again sparked a broader debate over transparency and accountability within the judiciary, with all eyes now on the next course of action.
