From Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption crusade to defending Delhi’s elite Gymkhana Club — Kiran Bedi has certainly taken an unexpected ideological detour.

Gustakhi Maaf, Haryana — Pawan Kumar Bansal

From being an activist in Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement alongside a retired IPS officer, to now advocating for Delhi’s elite Gymkhana Club — what a remarkable ideological journey.
Madam’s heart is suddenly bleeding over the government’s eviction notice to the Delhi Gymkhana Club management. She has termed the notice “unfortunate” and appealed for reconsideration.
One wonders: is this a genuine change of heart, or was participation in the Anna movement merely hypocrisy?
Madam says:
“This is unfortunate. It is truly tragic. I hope the proposal is reconsidered. Arun Jaitley got a new pool constructed during his lifetime. Some of the finest tennis matches have been played here. So much history, so many memories, and generations of sporting excellence are associated with this place.
The Delhi Gymkhana Club is not just a property — it is part of our institutional and sporting heritage. Change may be necessary, but history and legacy deserve thoughtful preservation. We can plan to add something new there too…”
Tailpiece: Madam should perhaps stage a dharna herself to press for reconsideration of the eviction notice.
