THINK Gas Accelerates Major CNG Push in Jalandhar; Transporters Urged to Shift Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Jalandhar, February 2026: In a significant push towards cleaner mobility in Punjab, THINK Gas one of India’s leading City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies, convened leading transporters and fleet operators in Jalandhar to accelerate the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), positioning it as a cost-effective and environmentally responsible alternative for the region’s commercial transport sector. The company plans to increase its total number of stations to 71 significantly strengthening fuel accessibility across key transport corridors.
The Transporters’ Meet, held in the presence of Mrs. Amaninder Kaur Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, brought together senior district officials and key representatives from the transport community at a time when rising fuel prices and worsening air quality are emerging as dual challenges for the sector.
During the session, THINK Gas officials highlighted that fleet operators switching to CNG could potentially save approximately ₹5,60,000 /- per vehicle annually, depending on vehicle category and running patterns. For a mid-sized fleet of 10, this could translate into annual savings of nearly ₹50 lakh, offering both environmental and economic incentives for transporters.
Sharing his experience, Mr. Satish Sachdeva, Director – Suvidha Transport, who recently converted 05 trucks to CNG, stated that operational costs have reduced by approximately 20 % , while engine performance and maintenance expenses have improved. He noted that the transition process was smooth due to expanding infrastructure and technical guidance, encouraging fellow transporters to evaluate the long-term financial benefits of CNG adoption.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Amaninder Kaur Brar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar, said, “Adopting cleaner and sustainable fuel alternatives is no longer a choice but a necessity as our cities faces rising air pollution. Vehicular emissions are a key contributor to declining urban air quality, and transitioning to fuels like CNG can significantly reduce pollution, lower the carbon footprint and improve public health. Platforms such as this organized by THINK Gas, which bring together government authorities, industry stakeholders and transporters, are important in enabling informed decision-making and encouraging the adoption of responsible, future-ready fuel options that support long-term sustainable development.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion where transporters raised questions on conversion timelines, return on investment, and supply consistency — signaling growing interest in alternative fuels amid rising diesel costs.
