An initiative to strengthen journalists’ welfare and protection was taken on Saturday during a meeting of like-minded journalists held in Rohtak. The participants discussed the growing need for a collective platform to address concerns related to journalists’ safety on field assignments, professional dignity, and timely support in case of threats or harassment.

The gathering also underlined the importance of welfare measures such as health assistance, insurance facilitation, and emergency support for journalists and their families. Emphasis was laid on skill development through training programmes, workshops, and digital upskilling to meet changing media requirements.

It was decided that the next meeting will be organised soon in Gurugram to widen participation, strengthen the network across Haryana, and finalise a practical action plan for future activities.
