WIT AND HUM OUR OF PEOPLE AND POLITICIANS OF HARYANA.
Desha Me Desh Haryana-Jit Doodh Dahi ka Khana.,meaning the land of milk and curd. Haryana is also known for gimmicks of its political lals, Bansi Lal, Devilal , Bhajan Lal and of late of Manohar Lals and as well as for politics of corruption, defection, caste ism and nepotism and various mafias.
But the fact that people and politicians here are witty and enjoy humor is not known to many.Here politicians screw their opponents using the weapon of wit and “humor. Once eminent journalist, late Sh. Par abash Joshi has commented that normally people laughs on others but Haryanvi people and politicians has the rarest quality of laughing on themselves.

Although many people in country are not known much for appreciating innocent humour at their own cost, but people and politicians of Haryana harbour no rancorous.
During his first stint as Chief Minister, Bansilal was running his Govt. on water thin majority and during those days there was no fear of anti-defection law. Challenging his opponents who used to plan strategies for toppling his Govt., once Bansilal said in chaste Haryanavi.
” Me Tosham ke retile ilake ka rahne wala hoo. Bachpan me Uthani ki puch kaskar pkad kar kai mil chala jata tha.Jab me unthi ki puch nahi chodta tha or fir ye to kursi hai .”( I belong to sandy area of Tosham where camel is used for transport .

In my childhood, I used to travel miles together by tightly holding camels tail. I will make firm grip on tail and this is chair.
In 1986 Devilal has launched Nayay Yudh Andolan in Haryana against injustice done to interests of Haryana in Rajiv-Longowal accord.DeviLal was very popular during those days and he used to address well attended public meetings across the state.
Devilal was to address a public meeting at Narwana town in Jind district and Distrcit Magistrate had imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 to prevent holding of public meeeting. This writer who was posted in Jind as a reporter of National daily. had asked from Devi Lal that how he will address public meeting as Govt. has imposed section 144.
In chaste Haryanvi Devi Lal had replied “Tune Dekhi hai kaya dhara 144. Me to Delhi se aaya hoo. Mene to raste me kahi nahi dekhi.”( Have you seen section 144. I am coming from Delhi and on my way i nowhere saw section 144).DeviLal was right as after defying section 144 he had addressed well attended public meeting.Although BansiLal was chief minister but DeviLal was uncrowned king.
In 1989 Devi lal was chief minister and he had launched campign against then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and had united all opposition parties resulting into formation of Janata Dal which had Ch Ajit Singh,HemwatiNandan Bahugguna, Chandersheikher and Devi Lal apart from other leaders including V.P.Singh.Dr.G.ParsanaKumar retired Haryana Cader I.A.S had shared very interest anecedote about DeviLal.While speaking at a function of reading of this writers book on governance and politics of Haryana “Gustakhi Maaf”, Dr. Prasana Kumar recollected that once in a press conference in which he was also present a scribe had asked Devilal that in A.B.C.D of Janata Dal heir achy, Ajit Singh, Bahuguna, ChandersSheikher comes first meaning A B C and D meaning DeviLal is in last.Devi lal who normally was not used to speak in English on that day had told the scribe that without D meaning Devilal A.B..C is zero..
