After demolition of Babari mosque Gurugram Police had failed to control communal violence in Nuh (Mewat) despite alert by then DGP,Kalyan Rudra

Despite an alert by then DGP,Kalyan Rudra to DIG,Gurugram and SP,Gurugram. , Police had also failed to control communal violence in Nuh then Mewat.about three decades back after demolition of Babri mosque.

Role of two Ministers of Bhajan Lal Govt. belonging to area was shady but under political compulsions Bhajan Lal then CM has given them clean chit.

Today while I was searching my fifty years old record for my coming book, I discovered old clipping of Hindi newspapaer” Jansatta “ when I was staffer at Rohtak

.I was having dinner at residence of my friend where Kalyan Rudra,then DGP was also present.Rudra was bit perturbed as he has got the news of demolition of

Babri mosque.Having vast experience in Intelligence Beauro he smelt that it could have repercussions in Mewat area which has sizeable population of Muslims.

So he sounded then DIG and SP of Gurugram about likely trouble the next day.

But things could not be controlled as forces were less as compared to mobs and it took several hours in reaching of enforcements.

During those days electronic media was not in large presence and there were no U-tubers as when next day people read about demolition in daily newspapers, about two thousands persons collected in Nuh and they burnt a temple,Goshala and property of other community members to protest against demolition.At that time DSP,Nuh was patrolling there with hardly twenty cops so he could not control the mob.

Despite the message of DGP,Kalyan Rudra enforcement reached late and by that time the situation was out of control.

Bhajan Lal convened an emergency meeting of the Cabinet and sent his two cabinet colleagues to maintain communal harmony but their role was shady and the police were helpless.

Under political compulsions Bhajan Lal gave clean chit to his two colleagues and also to Police like this time.Admitting that there was some laxity ,some junior officers were suspended.

Ram Bilas Sharma,BJP Chief rang to Bhajan lal alleging that his Ministers are instigating the people and police was helpless.Bhajan Lal assured Sharma that police arrangements will be made and directed Kalyan Rudra for taking effective steps for controlling the situation.

At that time the army was called ,curfew imposed and the army took flag marches to restore confidence of people.Two junior police officers were suspended .

Haryana BJP has given memorandum to then Governor Dhanik Lal Mandal blaming police and two ministers for communal violence.Bhajan Lal assured that Government will pay for the repair of damaged temples.At that time a three member Committee headed by Ram Bilas Sharma was appointed to probe the violence as BJP has demanded Judicial probe.
